For instance, are you using a personal computer and/or a local server to store and process your data and business information? If so, this article could literally change your life! But in order to appreciate the top Cloud Computing trends for 2022, first, let’s make sure we understand what Cloud Computing technology entails, and some of the pros and cons.

Not for Everyone

Cloud Computing is not for every small or medium-sized business. In fact, it varies greatly depending on multiple factors whether Cloud based services will benefit any business in a significant way, or not, so consult with an IT professional from Blue Oak Technology Solutions, your off-site IT department! We can help you evaluate your current business needs, then help you find the quickest and best way to achieve these goals.

What is Cloud Computing?

Cloud Computing is a revolutionary system that brings on-demand availability of other computer system resources without having to either purchase more software or hardware along with a bunch of services you’ll never use or directly manage. Cloud Computing utilizes the availability of an entire suite of services that are delivered as managed services. Cloud technology often uses multi Cloud setups or a distributed Cloud setup, which basically uses multiple locations and, likely, multiple providers, for different functions.

Public Clouds

A public cloud is an environment created by IT infrastructure not owned by the end user. Examples of public cloud providers are Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud. A public cloud provider can also take this bare metal IT infrastructure and abstract it to sell as IaaS – infrastructure as a service. Public cloud companies can also develop this type of infrastructure into a cloud platform and sell it as a PaaS – platform as a service.

Private Clouds

Private clouds represent an environment solely dedicated to one end-user, or more commonly, a group of users at one business. Typically, users run in an environment protected by the company’s firewall. A cloud becomes private when it is dedicated to just one end user or group with sole access. Some businesses that handle a lot of sensitive data may opt to go private, and public clouds may seem unsafe for their needs. Some businesses may enjoy utilizing the services through public, and private clouds may seem like too much trouble to maintain. There are also managed private clouds, where a business owner can choose to have their cloud services managed.

Multi Cloud Computing

There are a number of business models, but the multi cloud model is more commonly used than a hybrid cloud, though they are similar. A multi cloud strategy relies on this same resource-sharing to achieve coherence and economies of scale (i.e.: pay-as-you-go, on-demand services), so you can offer your customers a seamless experience. Multi-cloud computing typically means you are using more than one cloud service and more than one cloud vendor. Public or private clouds, can be either – both – or any combination. All hybrid clouds are multi-clouds but not all multi-clouds are hybrids. Multi clouds become hybrids when they add the orchestration platform element (see below).

Hybrid Cloud

Some business owners take the hybrid cloud approach, which is usually after other methods fail. Hybrid work environments are very efficient for businesses because they are doing everything multi cloud strategies do, except – with a hybrid cloud, you’ve also got a sort of “machine-management” of everything, so it all works as one system through an “orchestration platform”. Other than that, hybrid clouds are extremely difficult to define, as they are increasingly variable.

Top Trend 2022: Sustainable Cloud Computing

One of the most important current and projected Cloud Computing trends for 2022 is the more eco-friendly, reduce-your-carbon-footprint-type, long-term business model of Sustainable Cloud Computing. Public Cloud migrations of non-essential functions and infrastructure alone can significantly reduce local server requirements, which in turn reduces carbon dioxide emissions and is a proven potential power consumption reduction.

When tested and compared, at the same time, Cloud Computing bolstered processing power as well as computing power at the data generation site (your business). Dedicating your internal resources to your essential business processes improves functionality as well as sustainability. Blue Oak Technology Solutions can show you how!

Top Trend 2022: Edge Computing

Do you have a business that you would say is at least enjoying some measure of success? If so, you’re going to want to know about Edge Computing, one of the latest Cloud Computing trends that matters. Edge Computing involves taking your business to the next level, by taking responsibility for your data storage needs. This means building a data storage center near the business, thus easing the load on the metro area community cloud, improving speed, etc. The future is in IoT devices and AI technology, in line to shape our lives – and our futures.
